Blood & Ash by Deborah Wilde

It was entertaining enough, in a way, if not particularly original. But the heroine was so trying so hard to be edgy, it made my teeth hurt. Plus, what's with all the cuss words? I don't mind a profanity here and there, but it should be used sparringly to actually have it an effect (other than alienating the protagonist). She definitely didn't sound adult, or all that smart, even if it was constantly pointed out throughout the book. It's always better when the writer actually shows us instead of tells us.
