It certainly isn't a popular opinion, but I really did not enjoy the experience of reading this book.

First of all, there were way too many characters, and new ones were introduced constantly throughout the book. Truly every new chapter came with a new character, and it became hard to keep everyone straight (especially because they all had several nicknames). And the running list of characters eventually took up the brain space that the plot should've occupied.

And speaking of the plot... it was so all over the place, in part due to the constant influx of characters, that I was tempted to start skimming until I saw something that seemed important. Though to be honest, it was difficult to ascertain what was important and what was just filler as the pages dragged on.

The scattered narrative really hampered my reading experience, and I kind of dreaded picking this book up since it just wasn't enjoyable for me. But unfortunately, big gaps in my reading made the plot even MORE confused as I struggled to remember names and plot points.

Overall, I found this messy and kind of lacking in coherent meaning. But take my opinion with a grain of salt, because this is a much-lauded read of the past year and tons of people seem to love it. *shrugs in confusion*
