Ordinary Light: A Memoir by Tracy K. Smith
5.0
Enjoyed this book very much. The author and I were born around the same time and I felt a connection to her experiences. The writing is real and elegant at the same time. Her relationships to her parents and especially her mother are center stage. Her experience of religion in her childhood and adolescence and its shift towards adulthood was well described and felt. I liked how she described searching for and experiencing a bigger God. I had only heard an interview from the author so Smith’s voice was new to me but also familiar. She mentioned Goethe and Young Werthe and this did feel like a bildingsroman story.
