A Long Time Ago, In A Galaxy Far, Far Away...
Reread for our SF/F book club. My first time revisiting it in 20 years or so. I have two opinions about this book:
1. The characters are a lot less fleshed out than I remember them being, and the space combat a little *more* detailed than I remember it being. Too much action and description, and not quite enough time spent getting to know the people and their motivations. And agent Loor is an edgelord, and not interesting at all. Not that great a book. Two stars.
2. This is everything I wanted as a teenager hungry for more stories in a galaxy far, far away: action, X-Wings, explosions, daring feats. Everything I wanted. It took me back to that time and place. I noticed flaws in pacing and the thin characters (do they get more depth later? They must, given how I remember them!) and *don't care*. I see the flaws and discard them, because it puts me in the cockpit of an X-Wing and the fight against the Empire. Four stars.
