The Tale of Raw Head and Bloody Bones by Jack Wolf

4.0

547 pages of bewilderment and independent characters like you wouldn’t have read before, The Tale of Raw Head & Bloody Bones is written in a modern twang of old English and flickers between being a 02/10 for it’s provocative choices, a 10/10 for it’s depth and originality and soldiering an overall 08/10 for me not being able to actually want to recommend this to anyone. It follows the life of a sadist in the 18th century, with his good friend Nathanial. Mr Hart goes through a series of delusions that make the book twist and blend what is real and what is not, with several parts needed to be read with scepticism to see the clear story unfolding underneath.
