Honestly, it was just great to get stuck into a well-crafted YA fantasy universe after years of neglecting the genre. This is definitely the strongest of the trilogy for me - you can really see Bardugo's writing get stronger through the series. I also found Mal way more tolerable in this one than the last two.

I /did/ think the author erred a little too much on the side of caution with killing her characters - she missed a chance to pack a real finale punch which didn't quite land. All in all I felt like this particular trilogy could have stretched to several more books, which I suppose it does in the other Grishaverse novels, but I would have liked a bit more breadth and depth to the series overall.
