Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire
5.0
Every Heart a Doorway was an absolute romp! I could not put it down and am already hunting down the next book in the series.
The characters were very well written and I was impressed to find not only an asexual protagonist, but also trans representation, hell yes! I found myself just wanting to wander round this lovely house with all these tragic children. Even with all the, which I was not expecting!
I was completely drawn into this world, almost like I had stepped though my own little doorway into my childhood. All the backstories of the characters reminded me of the stories I loved as a kid. It was almost nostalgic and that made it all the more interesting to think about what the reality of living in a such high concept worlds would actually do to a person.
