5.0

Today Tonight Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon was absolutely amazing; I loved every second of this book. I was squealing every other page!

Rowan Roth and Neil McNair are high school rivals. Since Freshman year, when Neil beat out Rowan in an essay contest, they have been at odds. From student council meetings, to extra curriculars, to class projects, Rowan and Neil always had something to argue about.

When Neil ends up being named valedictorian, Rowan is broken. All her hard work these past four years, only to end up second best? She feels like a failure. Thankfully, Rowan realizes she has one more chance to come out on top. Each year, the senior class competes in Howl— a scavenger hunt and game of survival through Seattle. The grand prize? Bragging rights, the feeling of invincibility, and $5,000. Rowan is ready to win it all and can't wait to rub it in Neil's face one last time.

Rowan and Neil soon realize that the rest of the senior class is out to get them. After all, they won EVERYTHING in high school and some people can't wait to beat them for once. In order to keep the competition between the two of them going, they come to an agreement. They will team up to solve the clues until they're the last two. Then it's a mad dash to the finish line for the last time. For all the glory.

Throughout the night, things start to change and the two begin to open up in a way they never have before. Rowan finds herself telling Neil things she hasn't even told her best friends. Neil begins to surprise her, opening up himself. Where was this guy the past four years? Rowan finds herself confused on where they stand, and even more confused with her feelings. Does she really hate him or was it just easier to think that way?

Rowan was so obsessed about having the perfect romance, that she ended up sabotaging her own happiness. She was insistent that things had to be a certain way. Neil, always closed off and robotic, finally let loose and opened up. When Rowan sees this side of him, she can't help but think "what if?"...

This whole book I was utterly giddy. I couldn't contain the smiles and the squealing! Gosh this was adorable. The banter between these two was so funny. I love these rivals to lovers books, because along the way the characters start to see the other in a new light. I felt really connected to Rowan and could see myself in her; from the way she's overly optimistic about love to her focus on school above everything else. I can't wait to read this story again and again.
