“...a Japanese proverb. ‘If there is love, smallpox scars are as pretty as dimples.’ I’ll love your face no matter what it looks like. Because it’s yours.”
•
Ahhh Stephen, for being the “King of Horror” you sure do bring a lot of ‘dust’ to my eyes😢
•
If you could go back in time and kill Hitler, would you? King puts his own twist on a common philosophical debate for this novel. Jake Epping, a divorced high school English teacher in 2011, can’t get to Hitler but he can stop Lee Harvey Oswald from shooting JFK. Or at least he can try, but in the process he’s going to have to establish a life in the past. A life with necessary tasks, both pleasant and not, and with time between them. Time to find new places, to meet new friends, and to fall in love.
•
King does an excellent job weaving back and forth between the main plot and the sub-stories. I was in a constant flux of loving whatever moment I was in, yet frantic to get back to the storyline left behind. 11/22/63 is full of suspense, romance, and adventure. It’s as tragic as it is beautiful and it takes you through all the emotions. It has a large cast of memorable characters, and Jake and Sadie are two of the greatest he’s ever written.

I’ve read almost all of King’s work. I’ve liked almost everything and I’ve loved a great deal, but he has flaws as a writer. This book has none. IT IS PERFECTION. The Merriam-Webster definition of literature is: writings having excellence of form or expression and expressing ideas of permanent or universal interest. 11/22/63 is, in my opinion, Stephen King’s most well-written work and not calling it literature would be a disservice.
•
I don’t care if you’ve read King or not, if you love or hate him. If you enjoy reading at all...any author or genre, then you should read this book. In case it isn’t clear, this one gets ALL THE STARS! Also, I no longer know how to rank King books. This one destroyed all the criteria I’ve used before so I think I’ll just put it on the pile with the others that have broken me, in the best way possible.
