Telling Tales by Ann Cleeves

4.0

Vera Stanhope is called down to a village in Yorkshire to revisit a murder case after new evidence proves the killer is still at large. Though average doesn’t take to the different countryside, I love the setting and atmosphere of this novel, and Vera is always wonderful company. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of her calling people ‘pet’. One jarring moment (not murder related; we’re expecting that) was when a female character described as old starts to plan her FIFTIETH birthday. Other than that, it was a delight as always. The audiobook is the way to go for best enjoying the accents.
