This sequel was so much fun!
So the start of this book was quite different from expected because it gives us a different main character. But it ended up being so cool to see Wren and Lark from this outside perspective. Our main character from this novella is also totally badass and fun to follow along so I was totally pleased with this POV switch.
This book takes place quite far away in a shop full of magical trinkets and items that makes the setting also completely different. But don't get me wrong it's clear in everything this is still the same series. It has the same vibes and themes like it's predecessor but it shakes up some of the things people might expect to stay the same within a series. This shop however was very cool and it was so much fun to hear all the items being described and have their own stories. The setting of the shop was also very much part of the story and I enjoyed it a lot how the story and the shop became one and the same.
The story of this novella being the customers and shop owner being trapped inside brings forth a mystery story where they try to figure out what is going on and who trapped them inside. There is so much great dialogue between the characters that I absolutely ate up and enjoyed. They try to work together but at the same time there is a lot of tension and nobody trusts each other. This brings that great mix of banter and hate that I tend to love in books.
The ending was fun and I didn't see it coming even though there was definitely some foreshadowing so that was well done. It gave me a very excited feel to be eager to see where this series continues.
I received an eARC and this was my honest review.
