This book is an adult cozy/light fantasy with mystery elements. I love this book. So much is happening while, while at the same time, many mundane things are unfolding. I really enjoy the small stories about faeries interspersed with the mystery in Ljosland that Emily is trying to solve. Wendell is hilarious, showing no interest in the mystery except that Emily wants to pursue it.
I love that the book is written in field notes, with footnotes at the end of the pages—especially the stray ones from Wendell. I’ve never read that format before, but I loved it. I’m so in love with their love that they can’t even admit that they have! There is so much pining for the reader while reading this book.
p.s. I love that Wendell calls her “my dear Dragon”!
