This was a wayy lighter read in comparison to the previous volume. We got to see Xie Lian poisoning people with his cooking, Hualian being romantic for practical reasons only of course of course 😉, running mountains, a vengeful sword and to explore mysterious defaced temples in a dead kingdom. I really loved Pei Ming; for me he was the star of this volume. He’s just such a stupid manwhore.  Even though I did enjoy this volume I just felt that it was missing something. As much as I love learning more about the world and the characters I felt that it lacked some action perhaps? There were a lot of new lore and new characters. I’m curious about how, or if, Xie Lian is connected to the Kingdom of Wuyong, since he and the Crown Prince seems to have a lot of similarities?? I also want to add that I think the translation really has improved since the first volume!!
