Thraxas and his friends are marching towards Turai, which is occupied by a strong Orc force. Alcohol is running short and Makri has trouble with maths. Someone is killing Niojans and the main suspects are Makri and Hanama. Thraxas will have to solve the problem one way or another.

This is one of the simplest, shortest, and least mysterious book in the series but it's well written and explores the growth of all the main characters.
