Shield-Maiden: Under the Howling Moon by Melanie Karsak

5.0

This was such a wonderful introduction to Hervor’s world. I love everything viking so I’ve really been looking forward to reading this series. The last few times I’ve tackled something that’s been long awaited, it hasn’t gone very well for me, so I’m more than happy to say that this one was right up my alley.

This book had everything I could ask for: Norse Gods, a badass Shield Maiden, a seer best friend and a love interest that’s (so far) only partly around so I can focus on developing my relationship with the fmc before he does.

Side note: this is one of my favorite things that an author can do. I really don’t connect well with characters when their romantic counterpart is introduced right off the bat. The two characters tend to sync into each other and I struggle to think of them as separate entities. So, yay!

This book is already pretty full of action and clan battles so I’m really excited to see where we go from here once Hervor goes back to her fathers roots.
