The Reformatory is an amazing read! From cover to cover. Here we follow young Robert as he is sent to an infamous reformatory school located in a small town in Florida. Fear and tension are present throughout the book due to the setting (1950, small town in Florida, Jim Crow era). Robert and his family are under constant threat because of that setting and it influences the uneasiness. It always felt like one slip up can result in disaster. I was nervous the last 25% of the book. I would say The Reformatory is more Historical Fiction / Thriller with a heavy dose of Supernatural influence than a horror.
