Maeve Fly by CJ Leede

5.0

sosie bacon did a phenomenal job narrating this book and she really captured maeve’s voice so well! truly truly amazing, i’ve never been so captivated by a narrator before and i hope she’ll do more audiobooks in the future!

i also really really loved maeve fly as a character with all her quirks and flaws 🫶 i need to get my hands on a physical copy asap but i’ll survive with a kindle copy until then! the book, as a whole, was pretty entertaining and interesting. i don’t think it’s necessarily a super scary book, nor do i think it’s meant to be, but it’s more an in depth character study in maeve and her declining mental health her life starts falling apart around her.

it’s being compared to american psycho which i, in some ways, do understand but it does it a disservice if you’re expecting exactly that going into it. maeve fly is its own thing — full of feminine rage, murderous rampage and torture, halloween obsessed music references and lots of sex.

i found it entertaining through it all and despite not actually liking the ending that much i do feel it’s a five star read for me!
