I was really hooked into this at the beginning but by about halfway through it really really dragged. I was no longer interested in the mystery, and there wasn't enough magic to make it stay interesting. Gave up and looked up the summary and I'm kind of glad I didn't stick it out for another six hours of meandering narration.
