Sula by Toni Morrison
5.0
From September 2016:
This was read as a part of my writers' seminar class in fiction. But wow. WOW. Toni Morrison is on my list of authors to keep reading (before Sula I previously read The Bluest Eye). Sula, however, was just the type of novel I love to read: the characters are complex and juicy human beings, Morrison's writing style is phenomenal, and I love the questions this book raises. The amount of concise craft present in this novel is absolutely crazy. I know that's not much of a review, but basically all I can say and articulate right now is READ THIS BOOK. It's a very important book. Morrison has written the new classics, in my opinion.
