A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher
5.0
If Goose Girl retellings have no fans left, then I most likely am dead.
T. Kingfisher combines a dark fairytale, regency era satire, and 51 year old heroine into a spellbinding tale. That’s right, you can still be a hero no matter what age you are! Our cast includes a nervous fourteen year old girl, a terrifying horse, Cordelia’s wicked mother, and several old timers. These characters combine together quite more nicely than you’d think!
While a lot of liberties were taken, making this not quite the same story as the original, bits of The Goose Girl still shine through. The geese themselves have a bit of a smaller role, the real stars of the show being Hester, Cordelia, Imogene, and Richard.
I adored this! A Sorceress Comes to Call is my first of this author’s works and I look forward to reading back through her others!
