The Croning by Laird Barron
5.0
So this is the work of horror I've been seeking my whole life. My epitomic jam.
Sinister, mysterious, SO creepy and extremely well written, with a satisfying ending and deliciously thought-provoking cosmic horror (I LOVE what this story does with regard to memory and the unconscious). And all this clocking in at under 250 pages.
I don't know how Barron does it, but gods bless him (and grant him a full recovery from his recent health issues). A true talent who deserves all the attention, praise, and support in the horror community. All of it.
