Faithful Place by Tana French
5.0
Have I said this already? Well I'll say it again—I LOVE YOU TANA.
NO ONE I'm reading or have read crafts an atmosphere like Tana French. She manages to make you feel cozy and comfy, unsettled and spooked, all at once in her brooding novels. "Faithful Place" follows in the footsteps of the earlier "In the Woods" and "The Likeness," but hits a little bit closer to home for protagonist (and sometimes antihero) Frank Mackey.
In addition to making you feel like you yourself have settled into an Irish pub, French weaves masterful characterization; not only do you feel like you know these characters, but here you feel like you're one of the Mackeys yourself. And this makes the events of the book feel all the more personal and engrossing. As before, I never wanted this book to end, and I waver between wanting to devour all her books this minute and delaying reading them indefinitely so that I'll never get to the end of her catalogue.
Tana, please, never stop writing the Dublin Murder Squad series because I need it.
