This Yiddish novel from the 1930s tells the story of a young Hasidic boy who is married to the daughter of a very earthy Rabbi. The desperate mutual lust between the boy and the very young fourth wife of the Rabbi leads to a disaster and guilt that sets the boy wandering. A compelling read, although I'm still not sure what the ending is all about. I'll have to think on this one for awhile...
