So many cultural slogans these days are appealing because they sound good. They’re often very easy to fall for, even as believers. Alisa Childers helps us examine many of these slogans and mainstream beliefs, saturating them with the truth of Scripture. She also ultimately reminds us that the truth of the gospel is infinitely better, lovelier and infinitely more satisfying than any nice-sounding, self-centred belief system that we could comply with to make ourselves feel happy (at least temporarily). I found this book encouraging, convicting, and helpful in equipping me with responses to cultural lies that are presented to me or even that have already taken root in my heart.
