Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe
5.0
This is an honest and informative graphic novel that helped me to understand what it means to identify as nonbinary and asexual. I was surprised by how much the book resonated with me, even though my experience was very different from hers. I think there are elements here that everyone can relate to. For me what really resonated was how difficult it was for Maia to communicate with other people how e felt about being nonbinary, and about wanting people to use preferred pronouns. And about how, at some point the pain of not being seen outweighed the pain of being vulnerable, being open. I can so relate to this. I am so happy that Maia wrote this book, because I know how important it will be for so many people.
