The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

5.0

I don’t think I have ever loved a slow-paced book this much. I took my time reading it and didn’t get bored at all. The writing was truly masterful, story tight and engaging, and the character work was flawless.
I liked how the magic system seemed earned(?) and had actual consequences and I really can’t wait to read more of this vast world.
There isn’t much of a plot to this book as it seems like it’s just laying foundation for something and you can feel the build up (even if it’s only in certain parts and not the story as a whole) to something big. It was a little disappointing that little headway was made pertaining to this but it all the more makes me want to pick up the second book.
There was a point in the last third that seemed off and a little like the story was meandering but I’m pretty sure there’ll be a point to it in book two.
A solid 5 star read.
