I did not particularly enjoy this book but I really liked the premise. I think if I had picked it up when I was in the mood for something slower and meandering, I could have enjoyed it more. But I really just read it to see if it was better than my pick for the Booker  Prize, so it’s also possible my expectations weren’t accurately managed. I was prepared to be blown away and I wasn’t.
