The story is told from the perspective of Oliver Marks who was once one of seven Shakespearean actors who attended Dellecher Classical  Conservatory in their fourth year. Ten years later he’s released from jail and finally ready to tell the truth about the tragedy they all had a part in.

I think I would have enjoyed the book more if I had a deeper understanding of Shakespeare’s plays and how they were connected to the story. There is a lot of use of Shakespeare, they even quote it to each other, and as someone who doesn’t know Shakespeare very well It didn’t say me a lot. I really liked the atmosphere; the setting felt very vivid and tangible.

I wanted to know more about each of the characters personal relationships with Richard
and how they contributed to them leaving him to die. I felt like some of the characters reasonings were a bit shallow, and I wish their relationships with Richard were explored a little more.
The characters I felt most connected to  was probably Oliver, James and Meredith. I don’t think I got a good grasp at the rest of the characters, and I wish they had been more developed.

I did predict who the killer ended up being but the ending still managed to make me emotional and I liked how it ended openly with the possibility of different interpretations.
