Troublemakers in Trousers: Women and What They Wore to Get Things Done by Sarah Albee, Kaja Kajfez
Did not finish book. Stopped at 5%.
I was really enjoying this until I ran head first into a non-fact. According this author "Modern-day fictional characters such as Mulan, Xena the Warrior Princess, and Wonder Woman have Amazon origins."
Mulan is not based on Greek myth about the Amazons. She is a Chinese legend first found in writing in the 4th/5th century AD. As for modern-day, I mean compared to the presumed range of Amazonian legend (8th to 5th BC), I guess it is.
Anyway, I'm not interested in reading a non-fiction book that has such a basic "fact" wrong. Especially one that casually gives credit for the folklore of the most ancient civilization in the world to a European culture that is basically worshipped in the white world and repeatedly given credit for ideas that already existed in other less-white cultures.
