Is Mother Dead by Vigdis Hjorth

challenging dark

4.5

The title plays so well with the arc of this novel. I recommended it to my own mother (seems the natural thing to do) and I'm curious whether she'll finish it. She's started it, this I know.

I'm happy to have read it in autumn, just as the season is doing its own confusing weather thing. I'm not in Norway, but they seem to have autumn there as well and it is an enormously autumnal story.

It is a ghosting, I suppose. And the title is right again, in that sense.
