I actually DNF-ed book 1 in the series, but this worked very well for me and I basically devoured it. I believe this one can be read as standalone, despite having characters from the first and a background plot that I imagine follows what happened there.
The story is about Milo, an omega that signs a contract that states he should give birth to a heir with an alpha, in return he'll get money and he would be able to have his freedom and stability. He was raised in a very traditional way, so he's naive and innocent-like. The alpha, Caleb, is a widow that years for a family. The age gap is pretty big, 18 and 50, so both have a hard time accepting being a "good enough" mate for the other. Slowly, they fall for each other through spending time together and doing what the contract demands.
I really loved Milo, he's the type of MC I find the most adorable, and he's no exception. I adored how much he grew and became more of an individual taking his own decissions. While this book focuses a lot on the erotica, this also helped Milo in discover more about his own body and gaining agency, despite their world being unfair to omegas. Caleb and him made a good pair because Caleb tried his best in matching and teaching him, providing all the necessary information Milo wasn't aware of, as well as taking care of him as much as possible. I also found hot his possessive side of Milo.
I enjoyed this a lot even when it had some instalove/instalust elements, which I'm not fond of, but here it was understandable and despite that, it didn't feel like everything was rushed. Maybe the smut was too great that I didn't care much lol. Other than that, this book also has one of my favorite tropes ever which is. It hits just right everytime for me, those moments of desperation were well done, and I live for comfort after the storm. Great HEA.
