The Colour Of Magic by Terry Pratchett
3.0
I was slightly disappointed by The Color of Magic - after reading other books from the Discworld series I forgot all the bad parts of this book.
Pratchett here plays a lot with the language, and it's easy to lose the narative thread. There are some points where you feel like tracing back, to understand how or why are your characters in a particular spot. This book is actually made out of 4 shorter stories, which are less linked than anyone would expect.
But, of course, it's the first book of the series. If you have issues with the English language book (like I have) switch to your local translation, while it might lose a bit of Terry Pratchett's charm, at least you'll have a clearer image of what the author wants to say - or a clearer narration. I read the original Romanian translation first, and now I read it in English - I'm not sure I would've liked it as much as I have if I read it in English from the start.
Anyway, I won't tell you what happens. I do like two characters, Death and the luggage, but I think the luggage will no longer appear in the books (if I remember correctly) and Death is awesome in its' own, dedicated, stories.
