very murderous, dark and horrifying but so well done.

i actually love how this twisted the idea of this timid little mermaid into something so much more realistic in the way that it stars: to survive and be able to mimic voices and come into enemy territory? you have to be smart and believe you will win and survive.

more importantly: why try to lure humans if you don’t plan to do anything with them?

mira grant/ seaman mcguire can write in a way that works for me. she has a talent for mixing science with horror that makes sense but takes it to an extreme.
