I could not get enough to of this audio book. I started planning my activities around whether or not I could listen to the audio book while doing them. The narration helped me perfectly grasp this sad, poignant, and yet heart warming story that reaches across generations.

This book is a fictional telling of a tragic and untold part of America's history: its treatment of orphans. I encourage you not to read into the story before you dive in. You can do research after! But you will definitely want to know more. This is a tragic part of America's history and this book addressed the horrors of this time without leaving me feeling heavy and sad. There is hope woven into the present and past depicted in the book, and hope bououys the story.
