Remember God by Annie F. Downs

5.0

To be upfront I am a big Annie F Downs fan. I follow her on social media, I listen to her podcast That Sounds Fun, and I listen to the Relevant Podcast because of her. But, although I am the one that requested that the Dallas Public Library buy this book so I could read it, I was not looking forward to cracking it open. I knew from being a fan girl that this book was about seeing God's kindness, even when we don't love our circumstances. And although my life overall is pretty great, there are currently some circumstances in my life where it's hard to recognize God's kindness.
⠀⠀
I read this book in one sitting on a Sunday morning. I sat on the couch flipping page by page through Annie's stories, feeling recognition for not for her circumstances, but her emotions. One of my favorite life mantras comes from Marian Jordan Ellis, If you don't have it now, it's not God's best for you now (paraphrased). This book is a beautiful companion for that thought. Even when life feels icky and off track, we have to know that God has His best for us always and sometimes the pain and waiting are for our benefit.
⠀⠀
If you or someone you know is walking a path that isn't what was envisioned, this book will gently carry you through those emotions and lead you to the truth. It will help you Remember God.
