My Murder by Katie Williams
4.0
“What if the murder you had to solve was your own?”
Katie Williams’ “My Murder” is a tech-savvy, introspective and unique take on the contemporary murder/drama/mystery. I welcome subliminal and ulterior meanings beneath the face value purpose of a story: it adds multiple layers of depth and range. I don’t think Williams was too overt in her representations and examinations of motherhood, value of autonomy, and gender violence discourse.
But, I also don’t think you need to cut this story too deep: it’s an easy to read, captivating mystery with a twist. You can leave it there and have fun!
4/5 Neofuturistic, sci-fi kissed mysteries are so hot rn.
