Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt

Why, hello, book that stole my heart. ♥️⁣

Remarkably Bright Creatures was such an endearing and unique story, one that I found myself reading slowly because I didn't want it to end. I was both intrigued and a little skeptical when I learned that parts of this book are told from the point of view of a giant Pacific octopus named Marcellus.  It could easily have been too saccharine or overly eccentric, but it wasn't. It worked beautifully!  I also adored that the main character is a spunky 70-year-old woman named Tova.  The bond that Tova and Marcellus share and their ability to understand each other despite the obvious language barrier was heartwarming.  There was heartache between these pages, along with a little mystery, but above all else, this was a feel-good read...the bookish equivalent of a warm hug.
