The Love Scribe: A Novel by Amy Meyerson

3.0

I really wanted to like this book, the cover art is beautiful and the premise is intriguing, but the story truly fell flat for me. There are places where it picks up because it's a written story for another person, but then the actual narrative for Alice drags significantly. I expected more from the dad/biker bar situation, the Madeline situation was a bit too open-ended for me to feel like the author's intentions were clear, and Alice left the cats behind other than her own which bothered me to be frank. I felt that Meyerson could have wrapped things up better during each plot point and was left wanting throughout the novel.

Spice level: 0/5 (not even a kiss)
Overall rating: 3/5
