Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews
3.0
This is my second Andrews series following the Kate Daniels series so I had high hopes. Now, the first book in KD is not my favorite. That is definitely a series that is greater than the sum of its parts and that builds as the world and characters grow. So, I'm willing to give Hidden Legacy the same time and space and... it's gonna need it.
I found this was just okay. I'd heard from a few friends that Hidden Legacies was more romance focused, so I was excited for that. Unfortunately, most of the dynamic in this first book was not quite for me. We spend so much time with Nevada just thirsting over Rogan. I was begging her to please just STAND UP and get on with the story tbh. I also found that the plot here wasn't super engaging. I was only a little invested because of Nevada and her family, but the actual mystery plot really added little to the story and did little for the world.
I have no feelings at this point about Rogan, other than I would've paid money to have a couple hundred "Mad Rogans" edited out of this book. We didn't need to mention his name every time...
All that negative said, love the Baylor family so far and I'll be happy to see more of them.
