The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
5.0
I will be entirely honest. I thought I was going to find reading this book to be absolutely dreadful. Although I had enjoyed his other works prior, I always thought in my head that Lewis' works would be heavily descripted and carry a sort of 'Shakespearean' vibe to them. However, I am glad I did not solely judge him upon his friendships with J.R.R. Tolkien (and while I love Tolkien's descriptive works, being in a place of extreme studying, I do not find these types of novels simple to digest), and a few other authors that come to mind. I was pleased to find it immensely easy to not only delve into his books, but feel completely surrounded in the experience and atmosphere. The descriptors were simple enough not to drown oneself, but feel enlightened. It was overall a very fun experience, especially seeing how some of the scenes reminded me of their films I so heavily adored as a child. I also heavily enjoyed how simple it was to pause and return to due to how short the chapters were. I would highly suggest this series to my friends as something to check out at some point.
