The Night Is Defying by Chloe C. Peñaranda

4.0

This book left me utterly breathless. I'm heartbroken, furious, and completely captivated! It surpasses the first book in every way, offering deeper insights into Astraea and Rainyte's past and the events that shaped their destinies.

Astraea is an incredible protagonist in this installment. She's more confident, more assertive, and her compassion for all creatures shines through. Nyte has cemented his place as one of my all-time favorite MMCs. His unwavering loyalty, despite being vilified by everyone, is truly heartbreaking. The internal conflict he grapples with, particularly regarding his brother, is poignantly written. And let's not forget his incredible lines! I highlighted countless passages throughout the book.

The revelation of Nyte's origins and his mother's identity was a truly shocking and impactful twist. I was completely enthralled by the introduction of the celestial realm and the enigmatic Drystan, with his brilliant (if somewhat reckless) plans.

The romance is scorching hot, with every scene sizzling with intensity. However, the ending… I'm still reeling from its impact. I can't wait for the next book and for Astraea to unleash her vengeance upon those who wronged her.
