“You’re the man I dreamed about all those years ago when I was struggling to find myself. You’re him. You’re the man I’ve been searching for my whole life.” ~ Landon Larsen

I love that Luke acknowledges he must bridge the gap to his son, a responsibility too many parents place on their kids. It was wonderful to see how Landon and Luke's friendship developed and evolved into something more. Luke's honest conversation with Landon about his feelings on coming out was handled so well and is such an important moment. Bethany’s mature and sweet conversation with Luke, though not necessary, helped clarify their relationship. It allowed them to understand where they stood with each other, adding depth to their interaction and bringing closure to the past and the future.
I enjoyed that the book actually wasn’t that dramatic, it simply followed two fathers falling in love with their son’s best friend’s dad. The fact that Bowen and Emmett became brothers added a delightful touch.
