Sigh.

As a very, very early FOB fan, whose favorite member was always Joe, I was so excited to read this. I wanted to love it but it really fell flat and genuinely felt like it was written by someone stuck in their early 20s. Which truly would have been fine had it not been for so many of the “jokes” about sexual assault in prison?? I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why that happened at all let alone more than once.

There are so many things in this book I found interesting, like his experience as a person with chronic pain while in a massive band. I honestly chose to keep reading because I’d hoped he’d go further into that or into his music writing method or ANYTHING but it was all just super repetitive and it seemed like his main goal was to be funny.  Which sucks, because so much of this wasn’t funny and didn’t need to be.

I’m glad to understand more about Joe, more about FOB, more about the process behind some of the albums (though he sadly doesn’t remember much) but I think this book was entirely premature.
