I like that it is based in Taipei, I like the interplay between the group of characters, but I struggled to believe Zhou and Daiyu, particularly at the end. It felt too contrived and too pre-planned. I also found myself not invested in any individual characters. They were too smart, too talented, too one-faceted. It’s a quick read, and I’m glad I read it.
