For me it was reminiscent of Ítalo Calvino, with the atmospheric writing and woven in vignettes, a touch of Charles Bukowski’s with the exploration of the more “crass” elements of life but all wrapped up in the intriguing and perplexing lens that showcases Bolaño’s perspective of life and art.
