It's been a while since I read The Treatment (Jack Caffrey #2), but the nice thing about most detective series, unlike in fantasy, it's not always necessary to read the books in order or need to remember every thing that happened in the previous book. So it is that I was able to pick up this book and enjoy it. The important events in Caffrey's life that happened in the previous two books were alluded to in this book and I then remembered them. This book is yet another quality book from Mo Hayder. She weaves African tribal superstition and "witchcraft" into a believable tale that has no actual supernatural explanations. This series and Tana French's series are two series that I have consistently enjoyed in this genre.
