This was a hard book to rate for me. I ended up settling on 3⭐️, but it’s a 3⭐️ book that I did overall enjoy and will probably read the sequel.

Things I loved:

✨Captivating beginning
✨Unique magic system and world
✨Fantasy and romance elements, but not a romantasy
✨Element of the unknown/mystery about the history of their world and certain character backgrounds that kept me guessing and suspicious

Things I didn’t love:

✨The end was a bit of a mess
✨Some of the events seemed abrupt or didn’t fit the story (Dalca’s mother, Vesper and Dalca’s relationship progression)
✨Not sure I understand the King/Queen/vessel story lines
