Goodbye to Berlin by Christopher Isherwood
4.5
Oh Berlin, you wonderfully eccentric capital, you will be missed.
An important and timely read, with the rise of fascism globally. A great look into the Berlin of the late 20s and early 30s and the slow decline and decay of the city and its people into full fascist Nazism.
Berlin has always felt like home to me, taking in the people straying from the normative. I imagine that is what it felt like in the 20s too. And once again we are at a tipping point, where every freedom we have can be pulled from under our feet immediately.
