The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Annie Barrows, Mary Ann Shaffer

5.0

I have received many, many letters from readers all over the world bemoaning the fact that the book comes to an end. 'I want it to go on forever,' they say. 'I want to go to Guernsey and join a book club.' (Afterword)

Well, same. I knew the story, I watched part of the film once but I can't remember I actually saw it all the way through... Will definitely watch it again soon, although I already know it won't be the same as reading all the letters included here. I don't think I've ever read a book made up of letters all the way through. I didn't expect it at first but I can now say I really enjoyed it. Juliet is an amazing character and a lovely letter writer. The ending might be too cliché for some people but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I cried sad tears and I cried happy tears and I'm very happy to have picked up this book in my local thrift store.
