Frozen Heat by Richard Castle

5.0

Sometimes there are books that add a story line to a TV show by using the characters from the show, but these are so different in that they are "written" by a character from the show and the other characters (and the actors who play them) show up in the acknowledgements. While using aspects of the on-going plot from Castle, these books develop their own stories. As more the Castle/Heat books have shown up, they have gotten better and better. At first they seemed not much more than a caricature of the show and its characters, but now these characters - clearly based on the characters in the show - begin to stand on their own.

Of the Nikki Heat books - all enjoyable - this was the most riveting. With numerous plot twists and surprises, it was hard to put Frozen Heat down, especially in the last hundred pages.
